Our Beautiful Miss Singapore Universe 2007
Finally!!!! MSU judges this year round has great taste and made a brilliantly wonderful choice of selecting this beautiful lady to represent Singapore in this year's Miss Universe 2007 at Mexico City. And her name is none other than Miss Jessica Tan :)
Even before Jessica was being crowned MSU 2007, i knew she's a beauty through and through. Of course I don't know her personally but I do know of her existence for quite sometime. Coincidentally, she's an acquitance of mine's current girlfriend and my friend's ex.
She totally caught my eye while I was browsing through my friend's profile on friendster one day. And only earlier on then i realised she actually joined MSU 2007 and won!!!
I'm so happy for the both of them and finally, proud of our Miss Singapore Universe.
Eitherway, let me present to you our gorgeous MSU 2007 - Miss Jessica Tan!
Here's the interview taken off

Newly-crowned Miss Singapore Universe 2007:
April 23, 2007, 4:01pm
For newly-crowned Miss Singapore Universe Jessica Tan, it was certainly a night to remember. After all, what could possibly beat the surrealism of taking part in a beauty pageant on your birthday and sweeping not one, but two awards? The web team chatted with the poised beauty after the show and basked in her winning glory.
Dressed in a diamond-clad fiery red evening gown, flight stewardess Jessica Tan was literally glowing both on stage and off. Being a hot favourite to win, and probably the one that most beauty pageant pundits have their money on to bring home the $25,000 cash, trophy, and a golden opportunity to represent Singapore in the Miss Universe 2007 pageant to be held in Mexico City on May 29, she did not disappoint at all. Bagging both the Miss Body Beautiful award and the grand title of the night, Jessica impressed the judges not only with her beauty and steady stage presence but also her quick thinking and eloquence.
Waiting to talk to Jessica after the show was a trying experience, as she was surrounded left, right, and centre by journalists waiting for an interview. But when we finally got to speak to the beauty queen, we promptly got a sense of her poise and steady presence. This being the first time she has ever been showered with so much attention and a bombardment of questions, Jessica was apparently more excited than overwhelmed.
"It's quite a nice feeling actually, I feel like a superstar for a day. Since I have it now, enjoy it! Live the moment!" she told us happily.
When quizzed for the millionth time about her feelings after the win, Jessica showed no signs of impatience. Instead, she held on to the bright smile that never left her face for a moment.
"Winning the crown is a very surreal feeling because it is really the best birthday present ever," replied an excited Jessica, who celebrated her birthday on the set for the very first time, amidst 'Happy Birthday' songs from her supporters in the viewing gallery during breaks and from the other contestants after she was crowned.
"I didn't think I was going to win, but people around me told me that I had a very high chance of winning," she told us modestly, saying that she did not want to give herself any "personal pressure" before the big night. "I was already very happy when I was in the top five. After that, I was like 'let fate decide'."
As last year's runner-up (and now MediaCorp artiste) Jade Seah puts it, the beauty pageant experience can be "nerve-wracking, especially in the swimwear round where you are not wearing a lot and you are very cold and shivering". But Jessica was surprisingly calm and collected.
"I told myself (the actual competition) is just another rehearsal and I'll just do what I did for the past two, three weeks of rehearsals, which was to smile, keep my poise, don't get my steps wrong, start and stop at the correct position, and don't block anybody behind me," shared Jessica, with a giggle on the last point.
While the 1.67m good-looker might not have been too surprised by her win, after leading the pack by a mile in the swimwear and evening wear segments and feeling that she "performed really well" in the question-and-answer sessions, she said she was taken aback when she was announced as Miss Body Beautiful.
"When I was younger, I was not the slimmest kid ever," she revealed to this not-so-convinced reporter. "I was actually overweight and I managed to lose 10kg within a year with better exercise and without dieting... I've never thought of myself as the most beautiful body ever, so when I got the title I was really shocked."
Now that she has secured the Miss Singapore Universe 2007 crown, Jessica said she would be spending the next couple of weeks before representing Singapore in the Miss Universe 2007 pageant practising the catwalk, getting a good wardrobe, having good sleep, and basically just taking care of herself and loving her body.
